news items Sybil Exposed, MPD debate, non-state torture, trauma workshop

Last week, a new book by Debbie Nathan came out attacking the veracity of the original “Sybil” book and story.  Some inaccuracies and problems with the book’s conclusions have been found with the book so far.  Nathan has stated she believes DID – MPD is a “cultural construct.”  This goes against the solid scientific research showing MPD is created by severe, repeated abuse (also mentioned in the DSM). The DSM states that  this abuse is often validated by objective evidence.

There are also several new articles out about non-state torture and a meditation retreat for survivors of trauma on the West Coast of the US.
